Reds in for Wright-Phillips.
Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips is subject to the interest of Arsenal, Tottenham and now Liverpool, according to the Daily Mail. The England international is unhappy at Manchester City, who would be willing to sell the player in order to reduce the wage bill. Arsene Wenger was thought to be close to tying up a £6m for the former Chelsea man, however wages are proving to be a stumbling block. Hodgson is trying to put together a package to lure Wright-Phillips to Anfield, as the Reds are short of quality wingers going into the new season.
Cole to reject ‘Pool.
Meanwhile, another winger subject to a three-way tussle between Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool is Joe Cole, who will reportedly reject Liverpool according to the Metro. The England midfielder wants to stay in London and Arsenal are now favourites to sign him on a deal which could see him earn £115,000 a week.
Ngog to West Brom.
Premier League new boys West Brom are keen on bringing Liverpool rookie striker David Ngog to the club on a loan deal. The promoted side are enquiring about several strikers as they look to try and stay up next season. Ngog, who featured regularly for the Reds last season in the absence of Fernando Torres, is still thought to be part of the plans at Anfield. However, Hodgson may be willing to let the striker gain some more experience if Torres stays at Liverpool.
