Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Manchester Utd. Today:

United in for German ace.

Manchester United are the latest side to take an interest in Stuttgart’s Sami Khedira, according to Sky Sports. The midfielder has starred for Germany at this summer’s World Cup which has alerted Europe’s top clubs. United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is keen for Khedira to replace Paul Scholes, who is set to retire at the end of next season. The 23 year olds contract expires at the end of next year so the German club are willing to sell for around £12m. The Red Devils will face competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Arsenal for Khedira.

Balotelli latest.

Inter Milan’s Mario Balotelli is at the centre of a tug of war between rivals Manchester City and Manchester United, reports Goal. The 19 year old has unquestionable talent but his progress has been hampered by disciplinary problems with former Inter coach Jose Mourinho. The striker’s agent, Mino Raiola, recently confirmed that City had made an offer for Balotelli. However United are looking to recruit a forward of their own and are ready to fight rivals City for the Italian under-21 international. Balotelli has scored 20 goals in 59 appearances for the Champions League holders.

New kit pictures.

An image of the new Manchester United shirt has been leaked online. The photo which shows United players including Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand wearing the home strip wasn’t due for release until the 15th July (the same day as the kit launch). The shirt which will be in use for the 2010/2011 season boasts a retro design similar to that of the 70’s and 80’s United strip. New sponsors Aon make their debut on the kit replacing AIG.
