Man Utd news – Utd want Lahm, Sanchez staying, Scholes could continue

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Manchester Utd. Today:

Utd want Lahm.

Manchester United are again weighing up a move for Bayern Munich’s Phillip Lahm, according to the Daily Mail. The right-back has been a long term target for the Reds and now with Gary Neville nearing the end of his career United are looking for an experienced replacement. The deal could be helped by the German champions approach for Ajax full back Gregory van der Weil. However any deal for the German captain may have to include a player plus cash deal likely to be Ji-Sung Park.

Sanchez staying.

The race for Alexis Sanchez seems to be over as Udinese insist he is going nowhere. The winger helped Chile through the group in the World Cup and his impressive performances caught the eye of many top clubs. Manchester United and Real Madrid were thought to be very keen but Udinese club president Giampaolo Pozzo told Gazzetta dello Sport: “Alexis will return to Udine and will remain here”. The 22 year old moved to Italy form River Plate in 2008.

Scholes could continue.

Paul Scholes is still unsure if he is to retire at the end of the coming season. The midfielder who made his United debut back in 1994 originally admitted that this eason would be his last. However on the pre-season tour of the America the 35 year old told United’s official website “If I am feeling okay and doing the job that the manager wants me to do then we will see how things are at the end of next season. Hopefully next season will be another good one for me. The ex England international is fourth on the Red Devils all time appearance list.
