Manchester United News – Cleverley in line for new contract, Fabiano deal still stalling, Ecuadorian Starlet Montero speaks of admiration for Red Devils

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Man Utd. Today:

Cleverley in line for new contract.

Manchester United are set to hand Tom Cleverley a new contract, according to Sky Sports. The 20 year old spent last season on loan at Watford, making 33 appearances and scoring 11 goals. This form was good enough to convince United manager Sir Alex Ferguson that the midfielder deserves a chance at Old Trafford with the Scot set to offer the youngster a three year extension. Newcastle United, Birmingham City and Bolton Wanderers had previously been linked to the England under-21 international.

Sevilla president insistent that Fabiano is going nowhere.

The Luis Fabiano transfer saga has taken another twist with Sevilla president Jose Maria Del Nido insisting the player signs a contract extension. Fabiano, as reported on A Different League, has been constantly linked with a summer move to A.C. Milan or Manchester United, after failing to agree a contract extension with the Spanish side. Del Nido told the Mail: “He says he wants to play for a big club like Milan or Manchester United. I put these statements down to the heat that clouds the heads of Brazilians when they leave their cities.”

He added, “I would like for Luis Fabiano to renew with Sevilla as soon as possible, signing an extension for another three seasons.”

Montero reveals Old Trafford dream.

Ecuadorian starlet Jefferson Montero has said he dreams about moving to Old Trafford one day. Most fans wouldn’t have heard of the 20 year old, but his career is taking a similar path as that of his idol Antonio Valencia. The winger played last season in Villareal’s B team and has been promoted to the first team for this coming season, just like Valencia. Montero told the News Of The World that doesn’t plan to stay in Spain too long: “I would love to follow in his footsteps and play for Manchester United, if that opportunity arises. Who knows what will happen in the future?”
