Tottenham news – Attention turns back to Bellamy, Pletikosa to complete deal, Stadium plans hit obstacle

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Tottenham. Today:

Attention turns back to Bellamy.

Harry Redknapp has given up on the idea of landing Joe Cole and has turned his attention to Craig Bellamy according to reports in the Mail. The Welsh striker has been a long-term target of the Spurs boss and could be brought in for as little at £3m this summer. Meanwhile, Joe Cole is expected to decide his allegiance within the next 48 hours with favourites Liverpool offering £90,000 a week.

Stadium plans hit obstacle.

Spurs’ £400 million redevelopment plans for White Hart Lane have been dealt another blow that will delay construction for a further two months. According to Goal.com the clubs re-worked plans must be amended further before they get the go ahead. Supermarket giants Sainsbury’s intend to build a megastore near White Hart Lane and it is feared the two combined on match days will cause too much traffic on the surrounding roads.

Pletikosa to complete deal.

Harry Redknapp is close to signing Croatian Goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa according to imscouting.com. Pletikosa failed a medical at Tottenham back in January but has now recovered from his knee ligament injury and is close to settling a deal. Harry Redknapp told croatiansoccerreport.com: “We might be taking another Croatian, goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa, we have every chance.” The Croatian international will have to compete with Carlo Cudicini and Heurelho Gomes for the number one jersey.
