Tottenham news – Croatian player deal, Spurs outbid for Diakhate, Cavani favours Serie A stay

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Tottenham. Today:

Spurs outbid for Diakhate.

Pape Diakhate may be staying in mainland Europe after Ligue One’s Lille became the latest club to show interested in the Dynamo Kiev defender. Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have both been linked to the player and it was anticipated he would be eventually brought be either club this summer. But the Mail have revealed Lille are ready to offer £5.75m for his services which will deny both London clubs from one of their prime summer targets.

Pletikosa deal expected.

Spurs are expected to sign Spartak Moscow goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa on a season-long loan according to the Mail. It is speculated the Croatian shot stopper will sign within the next two weeks as he has not travelled with his club to Scandinavia for summer training. Instead he will be heading to White Hart Lane for an extensive medical before anything is confirmed. Despite a vast reputation in Russia and a repertoire of 80 international caps for Croatia, Pletikosa will likely play only as back-up to Huerelho Gomes.

Cavani favours Serie A stay.

Palermo striker Edinson Cavani has said he cannot be enticed to the Premier League by Spurs and would favour a move to Juventus so he can stay in Italy. Last week, Cavani and teammate Simon Kjaer were wrongly confirmed to be joining Spurs by Palermo’s President Maurizio Zamparini, but it looks as though neither will be playing at White Hart Lane next season. The striker told Tuttosport: “If I was to leave Palermo then I would want to continue playing in Serie A.”
