Tottenham news – Spurs close in on Bellamy, Tottenham vs Bournemouth donations, Redknapp still keen on Cole

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Tottenham. Today:

Redknapp still keen on Cole.

Harry Redknapp still has faith in tempting Joe Cole to White Hart Lane. Despite rumours Cole had all but signed on the dotted line for Arsenal, the Spurs boss believes the 28-year-old could still be talked into a move to Spurs under the man that kick-started his career at West Ham: “I know Daniel (Levy) was talking to his people and we’re interested,” Redknapp told Talksport. “If the chairman can pull a deal off I’d love to have him at Tottenham.”

Tottenham vs Bournemouth donations.

Tottenham play their first pre-season friendly away to Bournemouth on Saturday and will donate all of their gate receipts to ‘Help the Heroes’ according to their website. Spurs were closely associated with the charity throughout last season and intend to continue the gesture with the match on Saturday. In September last year, Harry Redknapp, Michael Dawson and Jemain Defoe all showed their support for the worthy cause by visiting the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court.

Spurs close in on Bellamy.

Spurs are close to clinching Manchester City’s Craig Bellamy according to The Mail. Everton are also believed to be interested in the Welshman who has fallen out of favour at Eastlands as Roberto Mancini plans to splash out on two of Europe’s most sought after strikers. Spurs are prepared to offer as much as £6 million for his services next season, a sum of money that is proving hard to better by the Toffees.
