Tottenham news – Spurs in for Turan, Keane wants Villa move, Redknapp backs Capello

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Tottenham. Today:

Spurs in for Turan.

Tottenham and Liverpool will fight it out for the signature of Galatasary winger Arda Turan. The 23-year-old had an outstanding season in the Turkish League, assisting 25 goals in 44 appearances. At first it looked as though Spurs were on the verge of securing his services, offering somewhere in the region on £4 million plus Mexican youngster Giovani dos Santos. It is now understood by The Sun that the player’s future is still undecided and a move to Liverpool is just as likely as one to North London.

Keane wants Villa move.

Robbie Keane would favour a move to Aston Villa over any other club if they can agree on a price with Tottenham Hotspur. The Republic of Ireland international has already suggested to friends that he would like to leave White Hart Lane to join Villa next season. Keane turns 30 next week and the midlands club are reluctant to meet the £10 million asking price from Spurs, but it looks as though this will be reduced so that Keane can leave.

Redknapp backs Capello.

Harry Redknapp believes Fabio Capello should remain England manager despite the team’s dire performance at the World Cup. The Spurs boss vehemently stated in his column for The Sun, that the Italian should clear out the veterans and give the younger players a chance to impress on the World stage. England had the oldest team in South Africa with an average age of 28.7 and Redknapp believes it is time to see a change in personnel: “Big decisions have to be made about selecting the right system and personnel that will allow the team to compete properly.”
