Tottenham news – Vital month for Woodgate future, Pienaar latest, Redknapp delight with Cudicini

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Tottenham. Today:

Vital month for Woodgate future.

Harry Redknapp believes the next month will determine whether Jonathon Woodgate will ever play for Spurs again, according to a report by The Telegraph. The defender has not played a match since November and is continuing his own personal training regime in a bid to get fit for the new season. Redknapp must soon decide on 25 players for the Premiership League campaign and Woodgate’s fitness will be the deciding factor.

Redknapp delight with Cudicini.

Just eight months after a motorbike accident, Carlo Cudicini played in goal for Spurs in their 4-0 win over League One’s Bournemouth on Saturday. The friendly was the goalkeeper’s first appearance since the incident in November last year, when he collided into a car and sustained injuries to his pelvis and wrists. Harry Redknapp told the BBC Sport website: “I’m so pleased he has recovered, delighted.” The Italian goalkeeper signed a new contract in May that keeps him at White Hart Lane until 2011.

Pienaar latest.

Tottenham are still interested in Everton’s Steven Pienaar according to the Daily Mail, who is still disputing a new contract with the Toffees. The South African star was said to be out of reach by Harry Redknapp last week, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is still hot on his heels and is preparing an offer. The only thing standing between Spurs and their man is the hefty £15m price tag they must pay in order to break his bonds with Everton.
