Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Liverpool. Today:

Lucas Leiva set for Spain.

Malaga are ready to offer Lucas Leiva an escape route from Liverpool, according to Talksport. The 23-year-old midfielder has struggled to hold down a regular first-team place during his time on Merseyside, finding his path blocked by the likes of Javier Mascherano, Xabi Alonso, Steven Gerrard and Raul Mereiles. Roy Hodgson is looking to regenerate his squad in the January transfer window and sees selling Lucas as a way of generating much needed funds to attract new faces to the club.

Europa team news.

Fernando Torres has been named in Liverpool’s 20-man squad which travels to Utrecht for Thursday evening’s Europa League match according to In a strong squad, the only two notable absentees are Steven Gerrard and Daniel Agger, highlighting the manager’s need to take the competition as seriously as possible. Although Liverpool have started exceptionally well in the Europa League without Torres, winning five games out of five, the competition presents a chance for the striker to build up fitness and form which has been interrupted at the start of the 2010/11 season.

Reina: Hodgson needs time.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph Jose Reina warned that it could take months before Liverpool click into gear under Roy Hodgson. The note of cautions may make uncomfortable reading for Liverpool fans frustrated at their team’s inability to find consistency at the start of the season – picking up just six points in their first six Premier League games and being knocked out of the Carling Cup on penalties by Northampton. Reina is confident that form will eventually turn round. “When you see so many changes, moving in a new direction under a new boss, things don’t happen instantly. It can take between three and six months before you see improvements.”
