According to caughtoffside.com, Chelsea are interested in Barcelona striker Bojan. The 20-year-old has been with the Catalan giants since the age of nine but is struggling to hold down a first team place and finds himself behind David Villa, Lionel Messi and Pedro in the pecking order.
Chelsea are keen to start building a squad for the future and with Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba in their 30s, Carlo Ancelotti reportedly sees a player like Bojan as an ideal long term replacement.
Didier Drogba has been nominated for the FIFA Balloon d’Or. For the first time, the awards for FIFA World Player and European Player of the year have been merged and the Ivory Coast striker is Chelsea’s sole representative on the list. Carlo Ancelotti, however, is one of 12 coaches competing for the inaugural FIFA World Coach of the Year honour.
The winners will be revealed in Zurich on 10 January. Drogba faces competition from the likes of Inter Milan’s Wesley Sneijder and World Cup winner David Villa whilst Ancelotti goes head-to-head with former Blues boss Jose Mourinho.
Terry defence praise.
John Terry has praised his fellow Blues defenders and speaking to Chelsea’s official website he described the club’s back five as ‘some of the best players in the world.’ The game against Wolves was Chelsea’s eighth consecutive clean sheet at home in the league and Terry revealed: “The back five have been exceptional this year,’ he said. I play alongside some of the best players in the world, with Ash, Ivanovic or Alex, whoever plays alongside me, and now Bosingwa has come back and we all work hard for each other.”
The captain singled out left-back Ashley Cole for extra plaudits: “Ash is incredible. His fitness is amazing. He goes up and the next thing he is back alongside side me. He’s the best left-back I have ever played with. I have never seen him have a bad game.”
