John Terry has revealed that he hopes Wayne Rooney will join Chelsea. The unsettled Manchester United striker has been linked with a January move to Stamford Bridge and Roman Abramovich has reportedly given the green-light to Carlo Ancelotti to secure a deal. According to the Daily Mail , Terry described Rooney as the ‘best player in the world’ and he admitted it would be great to have him as a club teammate: “Wayne’s the best player in the world. I’m no different to any other player when I say that. You obviously have to respect Manchester United and Wayne, but who knows what’s going to happen? We’ve got a great squad of players and he would add to that and strengthen the squad.”
Dani Alves link.
The Daily Mail also reports that Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Brazil defender Dani Alves who is still yet to agree a new deal with Barcelona. Alves became the world’s most expensive right-back in 2008 when he signed for the Catalan giants for £28m and his contract expires in 2012.
Barcelona have offered him an extension until 2015 but the main stumbling block is believed to be his wage demands. Talks have dragged on for months with no resolution and reports in Spain suggest that the La Liga Champions may soon be ready to listen to offers rather than allow Alves to walk away for nothing in under two years’ time. Chelsea have been monitoring the situation for a long time and Manchester United are also believed to be interested.
Demichelis wants Chelsea move.
According to Footylatest.com, Bayern Munich defender Martin Demichelis has issued a come-and-get-me plea to Chelsea. The Argentine was linked with a deadline day move to Stamford Bridge in the summer but at the time he declared he was happy to stay on and fight for his place, despite coach Louis van Gaal stating that he was free to leave.
His relationship with van Gaal, however, has broken down further and he is now keen to move on. His agent attempted to stir up interest by revealing the situation and he stated: “With Van Gaal there is no feeling and several clubs are interested in him. Juventus are one of them but there are some clubs in England and Spain. The price? It’s early to say it, I must first speak with Bayern Munich.”
Liverpool are also reportedly interested in the versatile defender but with Chelsea lacking depth in the centre-back position, they may be attempted to reignite their interest.
Terry thanks fans.
Speaking to the club’s official website, John Terry praised the fans who made the long-haul trip to Moscow on Tuesday. The captain revealed that their support was greatly appreciated by the players: “The fans have come a long way to watch us and it is obviously very expensive and many are not going to be getting back until very late. A lot of them are going to be taking days off work or getting back really late and going straight into work and that is brilliant. It is tiring enough for us players but when the fans have to get up and go in to do a nine-to-five job it is great and we want to show our support to them as they do to us.”
