Man Utd news – United close in on Sanchez, Rooney calls for international break, Nani the new Ronaldo

Nani the new Ronaldo.

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has described winger Nani as the perfect replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I think Nani is ready to step up to that next level now. He has always been a match winner but he needs to do it consistently,” declared the Welshman before adding, “This season he has already made seven or eight goals and scored a couple.”

Giggs told the People how United have missed Ronaldo but Nani is “definitely beginning to add something that perhaps we lacked since Cristiano left and he’s filling that gap better now.”

Rooney calls for international break.

Wayne Rooney has called for a winter break to be introduced to the Premier League calendar.

The United striker claims it will help both the national side and club sides, “A winter break would not only help the England team but the Premier League as well.”

Rooney explained to the Sunday Express, “towards the end of the season the intensity in some of the games which is normally there is missing,” adding, “it is only fair on the players that there is a break.”

Rooney added that he enjoyed games “when the game is end to end and the game opens up. But it’s only in England where you see that game that quick.”

United close in on Sanchez.

Alexis Sanchez has talked of his interest in a move to Manchester United.

According to the Spanish newspaper AS Sanchez said, “United? Obviously I’d like to play for a club like that.” SkySports says United will have to pay at least £17m for the 21-year old who has been in top form for Italian side Udinese.

Sanchez did distance himself from talk of the move happening soon, “All this is dealt with by my agent, as he is the one who talks to the clubs. I am not interested in knowing anything until negotiations are at an advanced stage.”
