Man Utd news – Utd in shock Given move, Hernandez has run-in with local farmer, Hargreaves set for Wolves return

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Man Utd. Today:

Utd in shock Given move.

Manchester United are looking to make a shock bid for Shay Given. The Irish ‘keeper has fallen behind Joe Hart in the pecking order at City, and has suggested he is looking to move.

According to the Sunday Mirror Sir Alex Ferguson has identified the former Newcastle man as his ideal replacement for Edwin Van Der Sar – who turns 40 this year.

The paper suggests that despite interest from Celtic and Arsenal, a move to United would be of interest to Given as he looks to get his career back on track after a tough start to the season at Manchester City.

Hargreaves set for Wolves return.

Manchester United have pencilled Owen Hargreaves in for a return on the 26th October – the carling cup match with Wolves.

Having only played 3 minutes of football in the past two years, United are happy to ease the England midfielder back into the first team. The News of the World suggests that manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been impressed with the tenacious midfielders performances in training and is looking to get him back playing.

At one point it was thought Hargreaves was going to have to retire from the game, so a carling cup tie against an under-strength Wolves will seem like an almighty breakthrough for the 29-year-old.

Hernandez has run-in with local farmer.

Javier Hernandez, United’s new Mexican striker, has had a run-in with a local farmer.

The Daily Mirror describes the Champions League goal hero as having to drop into a ditch to get out of the way. Youth team director Brian McClair explained, “the farmer had right of way but Chicarito was not for reversing, until the tractor was about to drive over his car.”

McClair explains how after Hernandez finally decided to move, but he managed to nearly end “up in the ditch and then up a telegraph pole.”
