Tottenham news – Bale commits to Spurs, Redknapp confident ahead of return fixture

Bale commits to Spurs.

After his stunning second-half hat-trick almost helped Spurs get a point against Inter Milan, Gareth Bale was quick to reject speculation linking him with a move away from White Hart Lane.

The North Londoners, who had goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes sent off 10 minutes in, went 4-0 down in the first-half but Bale clawed the score back to 4-3 and showed why he is fast becoming one of the most sought after players in Europe. The Welshman has been linked with clubs in Italy and Spain and also Manchester United but Goal.com reports that he is happy at Spurs.

He declared: “I don’t see a team in my mind that is not Spurs. I don’t have another club in my mind in Italy, Spain nor England. I am fine here at Tottenham.”

Redknapp praises Bale.

Harry Redknapp paid tribute to 21-year-old Bale and according to Sportsvibe.co.uk , the manager again issued a hands-off warning to any clubs thinking of trying to lure Spurs’ star asset away: “He’s a player that we hope to build a team around. There’s no way that we would or should contemplate selling him at the moment, certainly not in the near future. If Tottenham sell Gareth Bale now, it would send out the wrong signals about Spurs being a selling club. It gives us something to work on when Inter come to Spurs. He signed a new contract at the club and, hopefully, he’ll be here for a good few years to come.” Peter Crouch was also quick to praise his teammate and he enthused: “Gareth Bale is unbelievable. He’s been like that for two years. But to score a hat-trick at the San Siro is something special. They were three fantastic finishes. He’s still young and is already a top player and just keeps showing it.”

Spurs confident ahead of return fixture.

Harry Redknapp is already looking ahead to the return fixture against Inter Milan in 12 days’ time and he believes that his wide men, Bale and Aaron Lennon, can run the Italian side ragged. Bale may have stolen the show but the boss is keen to ensure that his side come out of the game at White Hart Lane with a result.

He admitted: “Every time we got it out to Gareth, he gave (Maicon) problems and I felt Aaron did the same on the other side. That gives us something to work on when they come to White Hart Lane. At White Hart Lane, we’re a good team and it’ll be a great atmosphere.” Meanwhile, according to RTE , Bale has revealed that he will be looking for victory over the current holders in the home clash: “Hopefully, at White Hart Lane, we can do a better job and get a victory. The result is what matters and it’s massively disappointing. We want to put that right next time.”
