Tottenham news – Spurs in for Adebayor, MP blasts Spurs’ Olympic bid, Huddlestone on London life

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Tottenham. Today:

MP blasts Spurs’ Olympic bid.

MP for Tottenham David Lammy has blasted Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy’s bid to move White Hart Lane to the proposed site of the Olympic Stadium. Speaking to the BBC, Lammy echoed fans reaction to news on forums and message boards by saying “It seems entirely wrong-headed to be directing efforts to a stadium on the other side of London when there is a fantastic opportunity to redevelop their home into a world-class stadium.” He went on to say that “Football clubs belong at the heart of their communities – Tottenham fans would never forgive Spurs if they walk out of White Hart Lane.”

Spurs in for Adebayor.

Joe.ie have reported Spurs as being the latest in a long line of clubs looking to take Togo-international striker Emmanuel Adebayor away from Manchester City. Seemingly out of sorts in the blue of City, Redknapp is looking to move the ex-Arsenal man back to London to bolster his striking options. Redknapp’s side currently lies in 8th position in the Premier League with a goal difference of +1 after 6 games.

Huddlestone on London life.

London life as a rich young footballer puts extra pressure on them, according to Spurs midfielder Tom Huddlestone. Speaking to The Guardian, he claimed that “If there’s ever any pictures in the paper, it’s usually people in London, not Manchester or Newcastle. You’ve got to have certain limits but, if you’re performing on the pitch, then most things off it sort of go by the wayside. It’s when you’re not performing on the pitch that people highlight it and use it to make excuses.” Huddlestone also suggested in the article that he hoped he would be reselected for the England squad after playing in the 4-1 Champions League victory over F.C Twente earlier this week.
