Man Utd news – Utd interest in Gundogan, O’Shea highlights Jarvis as danger-man, Form thanks to defence

O’Shea highlights Jarvis as danger-man.

Manchester Untied defender John O’Shea has pinpointed Wolves winger Matt Jarvis as the danger man in today’s match up at Old Trafford.

O’Shea warned in United Review, “He’s very good and very quick.” Jarvis was central to Wolves defeating City last weekend and O’Shea explained, “Wolves did well to bring him in to the game so much. You could tell they’d worked hard at creating scenarios to get him one against one with a defender.”

The Irish defender pointed out, “Some people have been pushing to see him in an England shirt, which shows just how much potential he has. He’s a major asset for Wolves.”

Form thanks to defence.

Sir Alex Ferguson has pinpointed the return of the Nemanja Vidic Rio Ferdinand centre back partnership as the reason for Manchester United’s form picking up.

“Look no further than our defence for the major reason behind our return to the kind of form we look for,” Ferguson told the Daily Mirror. “Basically the partnership of Ferdinand and Vidic has given us stability. We have never been far away, witness an unbeaten run of over 20 games, but early season we dropped points unnecessarily.”

Ferguson did talk about how happy he is with Chris Smalling as cover after his performance in the Champions League, but it is clear who his first choice defenders are.

Utd interest in Gundogan.

Manchester United are scouting young German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, dubbed the next Mesut Ozil.

According to Imscouting, United have been monitoring the FC Nurnberg midfielder after some quality performances for the mid-table Bundesliga side. Like Ozil he is German, but of Turkish extraction and could still play for both sides.

Nurnberg have already turned down bids from German highflyers Hoffenheim, Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburg, but a bid from Old Trafford might be too much for the player to resist.
