Sir Alex Ferguson has stepped up his chase for a new goalkeeper by making contact with Rangers about their number 1, Alan McGregor.
The Daily Mail claims “there has now been contact between Old Trafford and Ibrox following the 28-year-old’s superb performances for both club and country this season.”
The paper claims United’s chief scout Martin Ferguson watched the player in Champions League action against Valencia while Sir Alex Ferguson saw him play for Scotland against Spain.
McGregor ousted Sunderland’s Craig Gordon to become his country’s number one.
Carrick rues late treatment.
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has admitted that he should have sought treatment for his troublesome Achilles injury earlier.
The England international told The Metro that “I should have got something done about my Achilles sooner because I was carrying it for a while. It is easier to say that now I have got rid of it because I feel great. But it is probably only now that I realise how bad it was.”
Carrick is not concerned about the collapse in form he suffered whilst injured, declaring, “The only opinions that count are those of the manager and the staff.”
Defour prefers Man Utd move.
Belgian midfielder Steven Defour has turned down overtures from Liverpool because he wants to keep his dream move to Manchester United alive.
A source close to the player told how “There are many big clubs interested in Steven but he does not want to play for Liverpool at this moment. For the last two years Manchester United has been his number one choice and if he plays for Liverpool he is unlikely to fulfil that dream because of the rivalry between the teams.”
Ferguson famously wrote Defour a get well so on letter when the player broke his leg and the move appears to have paid off, “He would love to play under [Sir Alex] Ferguson and there may not be another chance if his next move is not to Manchester.”
