Arsenal news – Fabianski hits out at critics, Wenger: We must be realistic, Fergie: Gunners main Utd threat

Wenger: We must be realistic.

Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Group H whipping boys Partizan Belgrade last night ensured the Gunners’ progression to the last 16 of the Champions League. Goals from Robin van Persie, Theo Walcott and Samir Nasri ensured Arsenal’s victory after suffering a scare at Partizan’s equializer.

Arsenal have now qualified from their group for the 11th successive season, according to BBC Sport, but the 3 points was not enough to secure top spot in the group. This means they will come up against some of Europe’s elite in the next round, making further advancement somewhat tougher.

According to BBC Sport, Arsene Wenger remains unconvinced about just how far his side can go in this season’s tournament: “I was always confident that we would qualify, but you never know.

“We must be realistic though, and Barcelona are the super-favourites at the moment. But we will take what we get, if it is Barcelona then it is Barcelona though we have played them already last year. “

Fabianski hits out at critics.

Lukasz Fabianski has hit out at his critics by saying that he will not allow them to knock him from his stride, as long as Arsene Wenger is happy.

The Poland international, who is currently enjoying his longest spell between the Arsenal sticks to date, said he just shuts out what is said about him in match reports and respects only Wenger’s opinion with regards to his form.

According to, he said: “I have never paid that much attention to what they say. If they write good or bad things about me, it doesn’t matter.

“I play for the manager, the club and myself, not the press. I’m glad I have the support of the manager and he trusts in my skills.”

Fergie: Gunners main Utd threat.

Arsenal have been touted as the biggest threat to the Premier League title, by Manchester United winger Nani!

According to Sky Sports, Nani believes that the league leaders pose a much bigger challenge to overcome than the current champions Chelsea. The comments come ahead of the clash at Old Trafford between United and the Gunners on Monday night.

The Portuguese winger said: “Chelsea have lost a few games and drawn some and their confidence looks a bit low. But Arsenal have been winning and being top of the league gives you great confidence.

“Arsenal have been doing well. They are growing up in the way we are. Arsenal are a bigger threat than Chelsea now.”
