Espanyol’s Victor Ruiz has moved quickly to dismiss speculation linking him with a move to free-spending Manchester City.
The young Spanish defender has been in fine form this season, helping guide the club to the dizzy heights of 5th in La Liga. However, despite their impressive league position, City may look to capitalise on their troubled financial situation.
But Ruiz, who has been consistently linked with City since the summer, told Com Radio:
“I want to stay at Espanyol – thanks to this club I can earn my living doing what I love, which is football.”
De Jong backs Balo.
Nigel De Jong believes Manchester City team-mate Mario Balotelli will continue to do his talking on the pitch as their title challenge gathers momentum.
The Italian has struggled to adapt to the English game since his £24m move from Inter Milan but De Jong insists the best is yet to come.
“Some cultures are different to others and the English culture is about hardness, toughness and trying to be a man as soon as possible.”
“He’s a lively guy. Sometimes his body language is not what you would want to have on the pitch, but he is a winner and he always wants to win and score”.
Diarra set to join.
Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud has revealed Alou Diarra could be set to join Manchester City, according to Sky Sports.
Diarra has become a prominent member of the successful Bordeaux side and is said to be happy at the Stade Chaban-Delmas, but City are keen on the midfielder as they look to improve their squad.
“We have not had any approach from them to now,” said Triaud in an interview in France.
“But this does not mean they are not close to the player.”
Liverpool fans may recognise the Frenchman, who spent two seasons at Anfield earlier in his career but failed to make a single first-team appearance.
