Tottenham news – Woodgate faces loan spell, No Jan Young move, Gameiro nogo

Woodgate faces loan spell.

It seems Jonathan Woodgate is set to face a spell out on loan before he returns in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt.

Woodgate has been injured for over a year and has finally returned to training but Harry Redknapp believes a spell out on loan could help the centre-back in his recovery from such a long time out.

The Press Association reveals that Woodgate has spoken with manager Redknapp and that the 30-year-old defender is keen on the idea of a loan to help him in his recovery.

Woodgate’s career has been one filled with persistent back and knee injuries.

No Jan Young move.

With the January transfer window drawing ever closer, it appears evident that one Tottenham Hotspur target will not be moving to White Hart Lane in the winter.

Ashley Young has been highly linked with Spurs, plus a host of other Premier League sides but Villa boss Gerard Houllier believes Young will stay at least until his contract expires in 2012.

Yahoo Sport reports the England international has already revealed he wishes to put any transfer talk on hold until the summer, meaning there is a chance he could leave Villa Park on a Bosman next year.

Gameiro nogo.

According to goal.com, Lorient frontman Kevin Gameiro is set to turn down Tottenham Hostpur and Arsenal to join Spanish side Valencia.

It is understood that the 23-year-old goal scorer has fallen out with his manager, Christian Gourcuff and could be available for as little as £6m.

Tottenham have been interested for a while and Arsenal announced they were set to challenge their North London rivals for Gameiro’s signature, but it seems the striker is favouring a move to La Liga.

Harry Redknapp is keen to bolster his attacking options with the departure of Robbie Keane looking imminent and rumours linking Peter Crouch and Nico Kranjcar with moves away from White Hart Lane.
