New Manchester City signing Edin Dzeko is confident that it won’t be long before he has fully adapted to life in the Premier League and is firing on all cylinders.
The Bosnian striker played the full 90 minutes of his debut for City as they beat Wolves 4-3 at the City of Manchester Stadium to go top of the league.
Dzeko’s debut was his first game for 25 days and although he failed to score, he did have a hand in his team’s third goal with a brilliantly timed pass into the box for Yaya Toure to slot into the net.
The £27million striker feels that the Blues’ style of play suits him and he will be ready to bang the goals in for City if they continue to perform as well as they did on Saturday: “If we win every game like this then it’ll be easy to find my feet quickly.” He told BBC Sport.
New Hart contract.
Manchester City will secure the services of Joe Hart for the next five years by offering him a contract that will see the goalkeeper earn £100,000 a week, according to the Daily Star.
Hart will make £25million over the course of the contract which will be put on the table this summer and will more than triple his current earnings.
The Citizens have stressed that they will not begin contract negotiations until the end of the season when the budget is set for the next campaign by their owners but it is believed that the club will be more than happy to fork out the money to keep their number one goalkeeper between the sticks.
Roberto Mancini was quoted in The Daily Star as saying: “We believe so much in Joe that we sacrificed a great No.1 like Shay Given. I can categorically say, despite reports, we will not make any offers for Gianluigi Buffon.”
Ade to Monaco.
Emmanuel Adebayor has been the subject of much speculation during the current transfer window and he has now been linked with a return to AS Monaco.
Adebayor has made just eight Premier League appearances this season and has not featured for Manchester City since coming on as a substitute against SV Salzburg in the Europa League in early December.
The 26-year-old has been linked to Real Madrid as Jose Mourinho continues his search for a new striker but Mirror Football has revealed French Ligue 1 side Monaco have shown interest in the former Togolese international as they look to escape from the relegation zone.
Adebayor scored 20 goals in 100 appearances during his three years at Les Rouge et Blanc before joining Arsenal in January 2006.
