Manchester United are mulling over whether to make a £14m offer Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra, according to The Guardian.
Sir Alex Ferguson is a long time admirer of the young Frenchman and is believed to be giving the transfer serious consideration after he ruled out any activity in the January window.
Diarra, who has previously enjoyed spells in England with Chelsea and Portsmouth, is said to be keen on a move to Old Trafford after falling out of favour due to the arrival of Sami Khedira.
Smalling praises Hernandez.
Manchester United defender Chris Smalling is not surprised by the impact Javier Hernandez has made on the Premier League, revealing the striker is a nightmare to mark, even in training.
Hernandez, dubbed Chicharito (Little Pea) has enjoyed a sensational start to his debut season with six goals in seven league games. His latest goal helped United to a 2-1 victory over Stoke as they continued their unbeaten start into 2011.
And Smalling, who deputised for the injured Rio Ferdinand, said: “Chicharito is dangerous. Even in six-a-sides during training he can be a nightmare to mark.
“You have to keep your wits about you because he can come from left or right. He really deserved his goal.”
Ajose signs new deal.
Skysports.com understands Nicky Ajose has signed a new contract at Manchester United after extending his loan deal at Bury.
The 19-year old English striker is believed to have penned a new deal until 2013 after impressing Sir Alex Ferguson during his loan spell at Bury.
Several other clubs targeted Ajose after shining in League Two, but Ferguson was keen for the forward to continue his education with Alan Knill’s side, and will now stay there until the end of the season.
