Spahic Aston Villa deal depends on Houllier future

Sky Sports have reported that Bosnian defender Emir Spahic’s proposed to Aston Villa from French club Montpellier, depends on the future of Villa boss Gerard Houllier, according to the player’s agent Bekim Dino Pasalic.

Spahic is reportedly keen to move to the Premier League, but Houllier’s delicate position at Villa Park is threatening to scupper the deal. Houllier is under intense pressure having seen his team drop to 19th position in the league after a really poor sequence of results.

The Bosnia captain has in the past been linked with the likes of Arsenal?, but his agent, has confirmed the interest from Villa.

“Houllier wants Spahic at Villa,” the agent told The News of the World. “But after he lost against Sunderland, his job is not secure any more. If his team wins the derby, he will stay as Villa manager and be given a free hand to buy anyone he wants. If he loses, he will be sacked and the Spahic transfer will be off.” Spahic continued, “I know the Montpellier president said Spahic can’t leave. But I spoke to him and he was realistic. If Villa’s offer is good enough, he will let Spahic go to England. Now we are waiting for the Birmingham result to see what to do next.”
