Wright-Phillips in demand from Fulham and Newcastle

It has been reported by Sky Sports that both Fulham and Newcastle have made approaches for Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.

The England winger who has dropped down the pecking order at Eastlands is thought to be looking to leave in order to secure first-team football. City boss Mancini has already confirmed that he will let the former Chelsea flop leave the club.

In an interview the player’s agent Wayne Lindsay has now confirmed that both Fulham and Newcastle are trying to sign Wright-Phillips. “My understanding is that Fulham have made an enquiry for Shaun, as have Newcastle. There are two other clubs also showing an interest, one loan and one permanent. There is also interest from a French club, but these are all options Shaun will have to consider. We don’t have a time frame in mind with this, but obviously it needs to be done before the end of the window.”

Blackburn and West Ham were both interested in capturing Wright-Phillips on loan, but their respective signings of Roque Santa Cruz and Wayne Bridge mean they are now out of the running due to the fact that Premier League rules dictate that clubs are not allowed to take more than one player on loan from one club.

Liverpool,? Sunderland, Aston Villa and Everton have all previously expressed an interest in signing Wright-Phillips.
