Moyes delighted with Everton cup win

David Moyes has spoken of his delight after his Everton side defeated FA Cup holders Chelsea on penalties, to progress to the 5th round.

Everton went behind to a Frank Lampard goal early in extra-time, before Leighton Baines converted a free-kick to force penalties. Phil Neville converted the winning penalty, with Ashley Cole firing wide for Chelsea.

Moyes, speaking to the official website, said: “I’m just smiling and feeling really good that we’ve beaten Chelsea. We could talk a lot about what has happened but I think the feeling for Everton to knock Chelsea out of the cup was really great. The players were right on the money today they were right at it from the off.

“The fans were brilliant today, we needed it and they needed it as well. They’ve not seen enough good Everton team performances this season, but they certainly saw one today.”

Everton now face Reading in the 5th round of the FA Cup.
