Chelsea’s left-sided Russian Yury Zhirkov is considering a move away from Stamford Bridge at the end of the season if he is unsuccessful in holding down a first-team place with the London club.
Zhirkov joined the Blues for £18m in the summer of 2009, making 17 appearances in his first season. However this term has seen the former CSKA Moscow player out for three months with an Achilles injury, and made just nine appearances in the first team.
Speaking to The
“If I’m successful with that, all the other issues will resolve themselves. But if I fail to achieve that between now and the summer, I will start thinking of other possibilities.”
