Tottenham’s in-form Brazilian midfielder Sandro has revealed his delight at breaking into the first team at Tottenham, and playing such an important role in recent Champions League successes.
Sandro was placed in the first-team for the match against Milan at the San Siro, due to injuries to Tom Huddlestone and Wilson Palacios, but impressed in a 1-0 away win. Since then, he has kept his place and was also instrumental in the club’s vital 0-0 draw in the return-leg at White Hart Lane that secured their place in the Champions League quarter-finals.
“I know I have had to wait for my opportunity but it came in a big match against AC Milan. I was happy with my performances and I feel like I am part of the family at Spurs as we look forward to the next round of the competition.”
Talking to the official Tottenham website, Sandro, 21, pressed the importance of keeping their form up in the Premier League, as Spurs try to secure the fourth position that would bring Champions League football next season, starting this weekend against West Ham: “I know this derby with West Ham is a very important match. Everyone in the team knows their place and what everyone’s doing to keep our run going.
“For me it’s about keeping my concentration and my position in the team, so I hope to be successful in this next match.”
