Of the 26 main Arsenal first-teamers, only Theo Walcott, Kieran Gibbs, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere are British, and Wilson believes this is a major factor behind the team’s failings this year. League leaders Manchester United have 18/36 of their squad from Britain and Ireland.
When asked whether the Arsenal directors would consider sacking Wenger, Wilson suggested the Frenchman is not under any immediate danger: “I don’t think the board will ever sack Arsene, unless there is a dramatic slump in the manner they play.”
