Celtic have been told they can forget about signing Newcastle United goalkeeper Fraser Forster for £2m this summer.

The 6´7´´ giant is on loan at Celtic Park until the end of the season but Toon boss Alan Pardew says he wants Forster to be challenging Steve Harper and Tim Krul for the No 1 jersey at St James´ Park next season.

“I certainly won’t be accepting an offer of something like £2million from Celtic,” Pardew told the Scottish Sun. “The last time I spoke to Fraser I made it clear he would be coming back for pre-season.

“I told him he will be given the chance to fight it out for a place in the first team. I do not want to bring in a new keeper because I expect the three we have to start pre-season.”

The Herald reports that Hoops boss Neil Lennon will escape any disciplinary action following his dismissal in last weekend’s friendly at Athletic Bilbao.
