Davies apologises for Bolton FA Cup collapse

Bolton captain and star striker Kevin Davies has apologised to fans for their dismal 5-0 defeat to Stoke City in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.

Using the social networking website Twitter, Davies told: “I am so sorry to all of you who came to support us and paid a lot of money. I am deeply upset and lost for words. Deserve the criticism…

“The FA Cup is something I have always dreamed of winning. Was hoping this would be a day to remember – now it is a day I will never forget.”

Bolton were 3-0 down at half-time, with goals from Matthew Etherington, Robert Huth and Kenwyne Jones, before two goals from Jonathan Walters made it five in the second half.

Bolton must now pick themselves up ready to host Arsenal on Sunday.
