La Liga Daily – Valencia could sell Juan Mata despite boost for boss Emery

Under pressure Valencia boss Unai Emery has been given a vote of confidence following Sunday´s 5-0 hammering of fourth-placed Villarreal at the Mestalla, a result which saw his team move six points clear of the Yellow Submarine in the race for an automatic Champions League place.

Emery has been aware for some time that anything less than a third-place finish would see him out of a job, but club director Fernando Giner says the 39-year-old deserves to be offered a new contract this summer. “I think Unai is having a great season,” he said. “He gets the maximum from the team and, with the results he has been getting, has almost accomplished his objective. If we finish third there is no problem and it will be Emery himself who decides if he wants to continue with Valencia.”

Giner´s comments are a welcome boost for the former Almer
