Bale for PFA award.

The Professional Footballers Association are set to announce Tottenham’s Gareth Bale as the player of the season according to the Sunday Telegraph.

It is reported that his outstanding performances in the Champions League this season has separated him from his closest rivals.

He has had an outstanding season, scoring 12 goals in all competitions and has missed much of 2011 due to injury. His virtuoso performance in the San Siro against Inter Milan has to be the stand out performance this season.

Redknapp in Blues link.

The News of the World has reported today that Harry Redknapp is one of the leading contenders to take over from Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the season. There have been widespread rumours about his return to Italy where the AS Roma post remains vacant.

The article reports that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will turn to a British manager when the Italian departs this summer. It has been rumoured for a while that Redknapp may quit Spurs to be the next England manager but the piece states he would reject England to take control at Chelsea.

Bassong considers future.

Staying with the News of the World, Sebastian Bassong has been telling them that he may have to consider his future this summer due to lack of games.

“It hurts being constantly overlooked. If I’m not playing for Tottenham, then maybe I am not much use to them. I want to stay but if you are not playing, you have to consider your options. It would be irresponsible not to.”

The French defender has only played 14 games this season which is low considering the injury problems the club have faced.
