Having had a wonderful debut season in the Champions League, the Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric believes that next season they could challenge for the title. Although they currently lie in 5th place in the Premier League the Croatian believes that they will obtain a top four finish.
The midfield maestro told Sky Sports: “We are close. In front of us is a bright future if we stay together. We need to learn from our mistakes and try to fight for winning the title, but the Premier League is not easy.”
“Not a chance” of big sales.
There has been increased speculation in the last week or so that some of Tottenham’s big name players may leave if they fail to qualify for next seasons Champions League. The rumours have centred around Bale, Lennon and Modric but speaking before tonight’s encounter with Real Madrid Harry Redknapp insisted his players would not be leaving.
He told Sky Sports: “Not a chance. Absolute rubbish. They’ve all got contracts, none of them are leaving. When Daniel Levy said that we might have to trim the squad, he was talking about a lot of players on loan.”
Hopefully this will put an end to speculation but with the summer transfer window approaching it is likely to hit the headlines again.
Hutton still set for exit.
It appears increasingly likely that the Spurs right-back Alan Hutton will be leaving this summer.
This morning on Goal.com there are reports that following a huge bust up with Harry Redknapp in February the Scottish defender has been informed he has no future at White Hart Lane.
He has two years remaining on his contract and has just undergone surgery on his injured knee. It is rumoured that Aston Villa, Fulham and Sunderland will lead the race for his signature in the summer.
