Barcelona have received an injury boost ahead of their final game of the Primera Division campaign. Defenders Adriano and Gaby Milito were involved in the pre-match training sessions after being sidelined with injuries. The former was given the all-clear from the club’s doctors after keeping pace with the rest of the fully-fit contingent. Club captain Carles Puyol has been training alone recently as he continues his recovery from tendonitis with his own, strict tailored regime. Having shown signs of progress, the defender was this week allowed to join in and train with the rest of the squad.
With the league title already secure, few would criticise manager Pep Guardiola should some of Barcelona’s key players be rested in Saturday’s dead rubber at Malaga as he keeps one eye on the Champions League final the following weekend. Several B-team and youth players have been training with the first team over the course of the week and it is likely that the manager will put his faith in the club’s youngsters as he looks to maintain his largely match-fit squad.
