Petr Cech has been voted Chelsea’s Player of the Year for 2010/11. The Czech international won the votes of more than 28,000 fans and edged past Branislav Ivanovic and Didier Drogba to win the award. Carlo Ancelotti presented the award to the Chelsea No.1 whose performances this season have rarely fallen below his usual high standards.
Another player who picked up an award on the night was Ashley Cole. The 30-year-old left-back was voted Chelsea Players’ Player of the Year by his team-mates. The England international was extremely happy with the recognition and went on to say how the players at Stamford Bridge are more like his family.
Cole was also keen to point to the fact that the entire squad were disappointed with the fact they fell short this season, while also stating his intent to change things around in the next season.
