Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is set to welcome Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani back into the fold at Anfield, despite many having predicted the players’ exit this Summer.
Aquilani, who signed for Liverpool from Roma for £17m in 2009, failed to impress in his first season at the Merseyside club, and was subsequently loaned out to Juventus for this season. He has played 32 times in Serie A this term, prompting many to think that the two clubs would come to an agreement over a permanant deal.
However, Dalglish is confident the Italy international can still play a part in Liverpool’s future. Talking to Sky Sports, the Reds manager said: “There’s a distinct possibility he could be back here. He’s a quality player. He got off to a bad start here with his injuries and never really got going after missing pre-season.
“He went out on loan and has done very well over there. If he was to come back here, for me that would be like a new face coming in.”
