Newcastle United left-back Jose Enrique has reassured fans that he is happy to stay at St. James’ Park at the end of the season, despite persistent rumours linking him with a move to Liverpool.
The former Villareal defender has impressed for the Magpies this season, featuring in 33 league games, but the 25-year-old Spaniard insists this not mean he is looking to move on, despite having only one more year left on his Toon contract.

Talking to the Telegraph, Enrique said: I’m just concentrating on playing for Newcastle United, we haven’t spoken about contracts yet.
“I’m happy with that and I’m very happy here. I know there are a few difficult things at Newcastle, but we the players don’t have to think about that.
“If I have to continue here I’m happy. If I have to go to another club, I’m happy in England. If I have to go to another league, I’m happy. I just want to play football – it’s my life and it’s best for me.”
Enrique has also been linked with Arsenal, Tottenham and Bayern Munich in recent weeks, but manager Alan Pardew is also hopeful of keeping the player, telling the Chronicle previously, “He’s under contract here until next summer. And we hope to open talks on a new deal as soon as possible. That’s where we are.”
