It has been officially confirmed that Borussia Dortmund midfielder Nuri Sahin has become Real Madrid´s first signing ahead of the 2011/12 season. The 22-year-old German-born Turkish international has been snapped up for around £9m in spite of the German giants wanting double that amount.
Sahin, the youngest-ever player to have appeared in the Bundesliga, has signed a six-year deal and said at a press conference: “Real Madrid is one of the greatest clubs in the world and this is a great step up in my career. It was impossible to say no to the club and its sporting project. The only way I would leave Dortmund is to go to a team capable of winning many titles, such as Madrid.”
