Manchester United are leading the race to sign 18-year-old Lens defender Raphael Varane, according to comments made by the player to France Football magazine.
Frenchman Varane has impressed in his first season in Ligue 1, for a Lens side that will likely be relegated in the coming weeks. As such, it seems unlikely that they will be able to keep hold of the player.

Talking to the French magazine, Varane revealed that there has already been contact with Manchester United:
“There are no promises from Man Utd. There has been contact from Manchester United’s side, but also from other clubs.”
United will likely be up against interest from Spanish and German clubs, as well as others from the Premier League.
Varane scored his first goal for Lens in Saturday’s 1-1 draw away to Caen.
