Tottenham news – Spurs eye Friedel, Juventus target Bale, Modric replacement lined-up?

Spurs eye Friedel.

The veteran goal keeper Brad Friedel has emerged as a transfer target for Spurs this summer. It appears very likely that Heurelho Gomes will be allowed to leave following a string of blunders that ended up costing Spurs a Champions League place.

Although the American keeper is already 40 the Mirror suggests today that he will be given a two year contract and will go straight into the first team. There has been considerable interest in the former Blackburn and Liverpool keeper; it is rumoured that Liverpool, Spurs and West Brom are all after his signature.

Spurs extended Carlo Cudicini’s contract last week but Gomes’ stay in London seems to be coming to an end.

Juventus target Bale.

The Mirror has today reported that Spurs only part with Gareth Bale if a bit of £50 million or more is made. The young Welshman is now rumoured to be on the radar of Juventus and Inter Milan this summer.

There has already been interest shown in Bale from Manchester United but it is understood that Spurs will only sell if a huge offer is made.

If a huge offer is made the Mirror state that the money would then be re-invested by purchasing Leandro Damiao of Internacional.

Modric replacement lined-up?

Although the season has only just ended the speculation surrounding Luca Modric is increasing by the day. It is no secret that Manchester United are interested in the Croatian midfielder and if a sizeable bid is made it appears likely that it will be accepted.

The Daily Mail has today reported that his replacement would be Milan Badelj who currently plays for Dinamo Zagreb. He has already replaced the Croatian in that team and it would be fitting that he filled Modric’s shoes at Spurs if he left. It is rumoured that a bid of £8.5 would begin a bidding war.

However, Spurs must act fast as Badelj is attracting interest from several top European clubs.
