Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hinted that he could make a big money move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema to help re-establish his side as title contenders for next season.
Benzema, 23, has scored 15 goals in 20 La Liga starts this term, but has failed to establish himself as a regular first-teamer since his 35m Euros move from Lyon in 2009, facing competition from Gonzalo Higuain and Emmanuel Adebayor.
And with the possiblity that Real Madrid Coach Jose Mourinho would be willing to let the Frenchman go in order to fund a new striker, Wenger has come out publicly to state his interest in bringing Benzema to the Emirates Stadium.
Talking to The Sun, Wenger said: “Signing him does not seem impossible. He’s a player that I like. He’s intelligent in his movement; he is capable of combining well with others and making a difference, and of doing individual moves as well.
“So, for me, he’s a player who’s at the top level in the world.”
