Real Madrid have made a surprise £45million bid for Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, according to Metro.
The 24-year-old has long been heavily linked to a return to Los Blancos’ archrivals Barcelona but the midfielder’s aspirations of joining the Catalan side has not discouraged the Madrid side from attempting to sign him and they have reached the Gunner’s asking price for the World Cup winner.
Barcelona are reportedly in the process of improving their previous offer of £27million which was rejected by Arsenal.
The player’s agent, Darren Dein, has insisted that Fabregas would only leave the Emirates to join the current Spanish and European champions and that he would never even consider an offer from Real Madrid.

Bracewell-Smith attacks board.
Former Arsenal director Lady Bracewell-Smith has launched a scathing attack on the current Arsenal board, stating that they have failed the fans in their attempt to move the club forward and has demanded that they be sacked.
Bracewell-Smith sold her stake in the club to new majority shareholder Stan Kroenke in April this year and she has taken to her Twitter account to announce her disappointment in the current Arsenal hierarchy following her dismissal from the board.
She said: “I agree that the current board should all go. They are passe. Have nothing more to give to the club at all.
“In time we will need a more dynamic pro-active younger board, and a good directional leadership.”
She answered a question about her sacking from the board with: “
“[They] couldn’t handle a woman with power on the board. Felt insecure. Male chauvinism.”
PSG in for Clichy.
French club Paris Saint-Germain are preparing an offer for Arsenal full back Gael Clichy, according to daily newspaper La Provence.
The 25-year-old has been linked to Juventus, Inter and Liverpool as his contract with Arsenal expires next summer.
Qatari owned PSG are looking to make some big signings this summer and the new owners are determined to bring Clichy to the Parc de Princes and have vowed to offer him a significant pay rise from his current deal with the Gunners.
Arsene Wenger, however, is keen to keep Clichy who has been at the club since 2003 and has announced that the club have entered negotiations for a new deal for the former Cannes player.
