Sagna backs Gervinho move.

Right-back Bacary Sagna has welcomed rumours of a possible move for Lille forward Gervinho. Speaking to RMC Radio in France the defender said: “This season he was a key player for Lille, and really helped his team to be champions. He’s got a wonderful technique on a football field, and I’m sure he would be welcome.”

Having helped Lille win Ligue 1 and Coupe de France Gervinho is also said to be keen on a move to England with the price tag believed to be somewhere between £10m and £15m. Last season the Ivory Coast international contributed 15 goals and 10 assists to his sides cause.

Benfica fixture announced.

Arsenal have announced that they will travel to Lisbon for a game against former European Cup holders Benfica on August 6th. The news was announced on Arsenal.com where the club provided some background history to the fixture. The last time the two sides played each other was in 1992 when Benfica dropped Arsenal out of the European Cup 4-2 on aggregate.

The rest of Arsenal’s pre-season consists of trips Asia to play a Malaysian XI as well as a visit to China before stopping Cologne for a match ahead of the annual Emirates Cup which this season will be attended by Boca Juniors, the New York Red Bulls and Paris St.-Germain.

Fabregas unsure on future.

Cesc Fabregas has admitted that he is frustrated by another trophyless season but says his future is in Arsenal’s hands. The Guardian quoted the midfielder saying “Barcelona are the best team in the world and going there guarantees titles. Any player who says he is not frustrated at not winning titles is lying. I am ambitious. But I owe myself to Arsenal.”
