In a sensational twist to the ongoing struggle between Barcelona and Arsenal over Cesc Fabregas, it appears Chelsea may be the unlikely beneficiary of the deal going through.
The Metro reports that Barcelona are considering offloading Spanish striker David Villa in order to fund the transfer of the Arsenal captain.
Chelsea have been long time admirers of Villa and have even more of an incentive to sign him now that Fernando Torres is at Stamford Bridge.
A source close to Pep Guardiola claimed the Barcelona coach is ready to take a pragmatic approach in the transfer market and considering that Villa is now 29-years-old, trading him in for a younger star in Cesc Fabregas may very well prove to be a good deal.

Ballack ends international career.
Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack has been forced to step down from international duty by national coach Joachim Low. The No. 13 was offered a chance to play a farewell game against Brazil and end his historic international career with 99 caps to his name.
However reports from Goal.com claim Ballack has rejected the offer and will not take part in the game. Michael branded the proposal ‘a farce’ and criticised the manner in which he came to know about Low’s decision not to call him up again in the future.
The 34-year-old took the chance to thank fans for all their support over the years and will now look forward to his last season at Bayer Leverkusen.
Drogba offered Spain future.
Didier Drogba is to be offered an exit route from Chelsea this summer, according to The Metro. Spanish side Malaga are rumoured to be interested in the services of the Ivorian and are now planning a bid.
The Spanish side are aware that Chelsea will be reluctant to sell Didier, as he is a clear fan favourite at SW6, but feel convinced they can lure him away with the promise of regular football.
With Fernando Torres already at the club and Chelsea’s apparent interest in signing Romelu Lukaku and Neymar, there is no guarantee that Drogba will still hold a starting place in the squad. And Malaga believe this could very well prompt a move for the 33-year-old.
