Chelsea news – Blues join Sanchez race, Cole plans La Liga move, Ivanovic seeks improvement

Blues join Sanchez race.

Chelsea have entered the race to sign Alexis Sanchez, according to The Metro. The Blues will seek to capture the Udinese forward right from under the noses of Barcelona and Manchester City.

Sanchez had been heavily linked with European champions Barcelona over the past month, with a deal even believed to be complete. That was until Manchester City offered a much bigger bid that apparently got the attention of Udinese president Giampaolo Pozzo. Since then the club have delayed their decision to sell Sanchez. And now it seems that Chelsea will look to try their hand at luring the 22-year-old to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have been following Sanchez since January and had even made an enquiry about the talented player back then. But the club will now have to shell out a hefty sum as Manchester City’s bid has led the Udinese club president to raise Sanchez’s valuation to £45m.

Cole plans La Liga move.

Ashley Cole has reportedly set sights on a move to Spain, according to the Daily Mail. Cole is believed to be seeking one last big move and has envisioned ending his career in Spain with either Real Madrid or Barcelona.

The 30-year-old was heavily linked with Real Madrid last season and a reunion with former mentor, Jose Mourinho. But a deal failed to materialize. Back then Cole wished to leave for Spain due to the breakup between him and wife Cheryl Cole.

This time around it has emerged the Chelsea left-back wants to persuade his now ex-wife to move with him to Spain and try to work things out.

A source close to the footballer told The Mirror: “It all boils down to what Cheryl wants, but the early signs are she would be up for the idea.”

Ivanovic seeks improvement.

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has called upon his team-mates to take the blame for last season’s performance. In an interview with the club the Chelsea No. 2 revealed that it was a hard season to look back on, but insisted this would only motivate the players for next season.

“We have to play more for the team, like a team, to give opportunities to our team-mates. We know where we made mistakes and I think we will be better and improve in the new season,” Branislav told ChelseaTV.

The 27-year-old also revealed his anticipation towards the upcoming pre-season matches, stating that it is an important time for him to become a proper part of the team.
