Sneijder eyed for Modric back-up.

Former Blues assistant coach has stated he believes Luka Modric would be a perfect fit for Chelsea with is class and work ethic attributes.

Whilst Chelsea’s initial bid of £22million was rejected by Spurs, and later ridiculed by manager Harry Redknapp, Chelsea are likely to return to Spurs with an increased bid, especially if various media reports are accurate that Manchester United are preparing their own opening bid for the Croatian playmaker.

Any new bid, if below £30million may fail with Spurs’ Chairman, Daniel Levy notorious for playing hardball over sales. If the new bid is rejected then according to Tuttosport, Chelsea could turn to Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder who is apparently open to an English move, his wife preferring London to the North. The report suggests a deal could comprise of cash plus Ramires.

Chelsea are currently 4/5 favourites with SkyBet to sign Sneijder despite interest from Man Utd, with Modric at 5/4.
