Chelsea are all set to appoint 33-year-old Andre Villas-Boas as their new manager, according to the Daily Mail. The Blues are believed to have failed in reaching an agreement with Guus Hiddink. The Dutchman was insistent on hiring a top coach to shoulder the burden of management and had suggested Ray Wilkins’ reappointment. However Abramovich has decided to pass up the opportunity of bringing back the 64-year-old to London due to these demands.
Villas-Boas’ appointment is sure to raise a few eyebrows around Stamford Bridge, as he is the same age of several players in the squad, including the likes of Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba. And it will be interesting to see if the young manager who is being hailed as the ‘new Jose Mourinho’ is capable of handling a dressing room full of big egos.

Blues Taarabt link.
Adel Taarabt has confirmed an approach made by Chelsea over a possible move this summer, according to reports from the Daily Mail. The QPR midfielder revealed that a move was not finalised due to the complications around Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea are still without a manager. Adel is being linked with other clubs as well, but has revealed that if a move was to happen he would prefer to stay in London, even if it meant sticking with QPR.
The move would cost the Blues an estimated £10 m and they will also have to fight off competition from Arsenal, who are believed to be closer in signing Taarabt.
The young star has confidently claimed he will fill the void in Arsenal’s midfield should their captain Cesc Fabregas complete a move to Barcelona.
‘Keeper makes Chelsea exit.
Young Czech goalkeeper Jan Sebek has decided not to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge and has turned down a contract extension, according to Sky Sports. The 20-year-old shot-stopper has instead chosen to head back home by signing a three-year deal with FK Jablonec.
Sebek spent four years at Chelsea and played regularly for the reserve team, while also training a few times with the first team. However, the youngster was not able to come up the ranks and break into the squad. Now Jan who was being touted a long-term replacement for Petr Cech has decided to go in search of regular football to aid his development.
The player’s agent Viktor Kolar, told isport.blesk.cz: “For Jan it was a great experience to be at Chelsea. But the time has now come for him to attract more attention.”
