In an interview with the club, Ashley Cole looked back at his performances this season and stated how happy he was despite not winning any silverware.
Cole admitted it was frustrating to finish empty handed but had a personal accomplishment to serve as the silver lining.
The Chelsea No. 3 became part of the elite few who have played throughout the 38-game Barclays Premier League campaign in 2010-11. Cole stated how significant a feat that is and heaped praise on the medical staff at Stamford Bridge for their efforts.
“We have good fitness coaches and good medical staff here who look after and understand if I need to rest a day and (whether) I’m able to play,” the 30-year-old told the official Chelsea website.
Cole’s achievement however has also caused distress, as Yury Zhirkov has recently stated his desire to leave Stamford Bridge in search of regular football. The Russian’s lack of chances at Chelsea just proves how high Ashley Cole has set the bar.
