Liverpool news – Henderson fee agreed, Reds target Doni, Jeffren claims ‘Pool interest

Henderson fee agreed.

Sky Sports reports a fee has been agreed for Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson to join Liverpool. The deal will see the Reds pay £13 million and see David N’Gog go to the Stadium of Light as part of the transfer. Henderson is manager Kenny Dalglish’s first signing of the summer after he was made permanent manager towards the end of last season.

20 year old Henderson is set to join up with the England under 21 team, but Liverpool are hoping to get the personal terms sealed before the Sunderland player flies to Denmark. N’Gog moves at part of the deal after a lack of playing time whilst Dalglish has been in charge.

Sunderland had rejected two bids earlier this week for their midfielder, but the addition of N’Gog along with £13 million has swayed the minds of the Black Cats and providing Henderson can agree personal terms, he will be in a Liverpool jersey next season.

Reds target Doni.

Roma goalkeeper Alexander Doni is reportedly the next target for Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish after the two sides agreed a fee, Sky Italia reports.

After losing out to Tottenham in the race for Brad Friedel, the Reds are keen to add a new goalkeeper to their squad as cover for Pepe Reina . The 31 year old has yet to agree terms with the Merseysiders and the Brazilian international is reportedly mulling over a move to Merseyside.

Doni’s contract at Roma is due to expire in 2012, with the Italian side not prepared to lose him on a free transfer. The suggested fee is £1 million and Doni’s agent Ovido Colucci has confirmed that the two sides are in negotiation. Colucci said: ‘I spoke to the club (Roma) yesterday and they confirmed they are holding talks with Liverpool to reach an agreement regarding the transfer of Doni’.

The 31 year old goalkeeper joined Roma in 2005 from Brazilian side Juventude and has been an understudy in recent seasons to Roma number one Julio Sergio, making 16 league appearances for Roma last season. Doni is most remembered for shipping 7 goals in a 7-1 loss against Liverpool’s rivals Manchester United in the Champions League back in 2007.

Jeffren claims ‘Pool interest.

Barcelona forward Jeffren Suarez has told Cadena SER, a Spanish radio station, that Liverpool have contacted Barcelona over their interest in the forward.

The 23 year old has failed to hold down a regular place in Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola’s side and was limited to a handful of appearances last season. In his career, the Spanish under 21 star has only made 23 appearances in total since his break-through in 2008.

Jeffren told the radio station: ‘It makes me proud that teams like Liverpool are interested in me. We’ll see what happens.’

However, Jeffren has admitted that he is not thinking about his future and is concentrating on representing Spain’s under 21 side at the European Championships in Dennmark. Spain kick off their campaign against England on Sunday June 12th.
